ROYAL OAK -- When Colleen Geyer, 32, started
attending yoga classes two years ago, she found relief from
her chronic back pain. "I never had any more back problems,"

After a series of
Thai Yoga Massages, the severe pain and tightness in my
neck and shoulders, numbness in my arms as well as interrupted
sleep patterns have vanished.

SPECTRUM
YOGA
I came to class tonight with pain in my lower stomach area that
has been bothering me for a few days. Bad enough that I haven't
been able to jog as normal. Whatever we did tonight helped immensely.
I left class and didn't feel a twinge of pain. So, thank you
for guiding me through the healing process.

I recently underwent a very painful medical procedure and the
breathing I learned in Spectrum yoga was the only thing that
got me through it.

I had been misusing or underutilizing. I feel more in control

YOGA &
PREGNANCY
I have already mentioned the effects I have seen with Spectrum
yoga and pregnancy but as I am coming close to my due date, the
benefits are even more apparent.
Just the other day my doula said to me, "you look much too
comfortable to be due in three weeks". I was sitting on a
loveseat in my home with my knees bent up on the chair. Sitting
like I normally do. I know that this is due to the flexibility
I have gained through regular Spectrum yoga practice.
I had someone recently say to me, "Meredith, how's your back
doing?". I replied that it was fine. I have had very little
back pain. He replied that it was hurting him to look at me because
of my large belly protruding out. It is amazing that as big as
I am, the only time my back is sore is when I have had a very
long day of getting ready for the baby or have done a lot of walking.
And more often than not, it's my feet that are hurting more. The
strength that Spectrum yoga has given me in my back has resulted
in little to no back pain throughout the pregnancy. I kept going
to class up until my 34th week.
The other benefit, although there are many, is that the breathing
techniques I learned through Spectrum yoga will definitely help
during labor. During my time in class, I learned that in order
to push myself a little further in a position, I needed to breathe
deeply through the pain. This is the same premise I will use during
labor. It just comes naturally now to breathe through a contraction.
I can't tell you how much I appreciated your gentle nature and
instruction during the classes.
I would absolutely recommend Spectrum Yoga for anyone but especially
those who are newly pregnant. The benefits are really worth it!
